Njordwave

Njordwave is a professional RF waveform analysis tool designed to help analysts observe, measure, and understand signals at the most fundamental level—before demodulation, decoding, or protocol interpretation occurs. It serves as the first analytical step in the Midgard toolchain, providing critical insight into how a signal behaves across time and frequency.

Njordwave enables users to visualize signals in the time domain, frequency domain (FFT), and time–frequency domain (spectrogram), allowing analysts to identify carrier characteristics, bandwidth, modulation behavior, and noise conditions. By interacting directly with raw RF data, users can recognize modulation patterns, detect interference or distortion, and assess signal quality in realistic collection environments.

Rather than relying on automated classification alone, Njordwave emphasizes analyst intuition and pattern recognition. It gives users the ability to explore signals dynamically—adjusting resolution, zoom, and analysis parameters—to build a mental model of how a signal is constructed and how it should be approached downstream.

Njordwave is used both as an operational analysis tool and as a training platform, bridging theoretical signal concepts with real-world data. It prepares analysts to make informed decisions about demodulation strategies, collection adjustments, and follow-on analysis using FLOKI, OdinEye, and Sigrun within the broader Midgard ecosystem.
